11.13 Summer Up, Fall-ing Down

I think I blinked and my very brief love affair with hiking had ended.

The mountains are now capped with a bright white draping as if dunked upside down in a shallow bowl of cream cheese icing.

National parks are closing and the once refreshing, cool embrace of gusts at the summit have turned into biting whips of wickedness.

Although the climb may be over for the season, the descent is just beginning.

I have never been skiing before and am both thrilled and terrified to take the plunge.
