Here’s to you, you weary traveler!
It’s been a very long time that you have been carrying around someone else’s baggage. Congratulations on deciding to return those weighty possessions. Perhaps the audited inventory contained suitcases with buried shame, luggage stuffed with a lie or that ever-shifty gift box of guilt that so casually gets passed about unsuspectingly.
Let’s toast to finally noticing the burden of this excess bulk or may the applause be awarded to you for acting on the opinion that we are each to carry our own loads- the ones that we’ve hauled since childhood along with those we have packed so meticulously with our own two hands.
Although your assumedly gracious lender should have been thrilled by the return of his lost item, it sometimes happens that he may seem unwilling to warmly welcome that part of himself back. But that is not important to you.
What is important is that you voluntarily place her possession down and walk away. The belonging, if not already buried somewhere in her closet, will certainly, in time, find its way home.
Let’s raise a glass to your new found lightness, your new found freedom and the new found place in your life reserved exclusively for those who help you sort through and permanently unpack your own bags.
Cheers to you, my friend!
